Passed away March 11, 2026
Age 69
A Life Well Lived.
Dan Wittenmeyer grew up in West Barnstable.
He joined the West Barnstable Fire Department in his teens
and over the years worked his way up to Deputy Fire Chief.
He eventually moved on from that service, but continued to
serve others in other ways for many years. He developed many special
relationships and life long friendships that extended in many directions.
A tragic accident at his home in Cotuit resulted in his life
ending unexpectedly
and too soon by all accounts.
Many of his family, friends, and others turned out at Mosswood
Cemetery in Cotuit,
where Dan had worked for many years, to pay respects and share fond memories
of this special person who touched so many lives.
