Chilmark Breaker

Chilmark has authorized funding for and ordered a new Brush Breaker
similar to the one recently built by West Tisbury. The new breaker to be
built by EJ Murphy on Freightliner chassis, expected to take approx 1 year to build.

DEPARTMENT NEWS

    Chilmark will be going to bid on a replacement vehicle for the 1976 Brush Breaker 131. A new brush breaker with a CAFS foam system is desired to meet the forestry and structural needs of the community.
    There are some longer term plans to acquire another tanker for the town which has no hydrants. It is unclear when the town may be able to support this purchase.
    There have also been some discussions about a new Public Safety facility, but nothing specific has been planned at this point. 1/2006
